Located in the Baking Pot region, near Cayo, Belize, in Central America, is an unusual ministry dedicated to teaching and training Deaf people. CDI provides a free education to Deaf children from all across Belize. Volunteer and staff teach all levels of classes to Deaf students. Many of the students arrive at CDI with no knowledge of Sign Language. Some are not aware that communication is even possible.
CDI was founded in 1999 by Frank Thiessen and AMT from Spanish Lookout, a Mennonite Colony in Western Central Belize. The school’s main purpose is teach them about God.
Students participate in class work, farming, chores, meal preparation and clean up, yard work, chapel and church services, and much more.
CDI workers are qualified and capable. Workers come from many different countries to provide the best possible education.
